Gayer by the minute.
So in what's likely to be my last entry on decorating for well, maybe ever, the other benefit to a new home office is a new master bedroom. A bedroom without a phone. Without two dozen blinking little lights. A bedroom without a giant desk chair strategically placed to destroy bare toes.
Three shades of blue paint, a trip to Target, and a call to Room and Board, and voila! I have a place for sleeping. And a place for my underwear. For eight years my drawers haven't been in a drawer. They have been in a box. In the closet. On a shelf. Cause frankly, that's all the space I had.
Now I have a dresser. A dresser that matches my bed even. All Chinese hardwood. Very chic. Very big. Very nice. And if Marley even thinks of eating this I'll chain him up. Outside. To the bottom of the harbor.
I quickly discovered after removing the desk chair, however, that I no longer had a place to toss discarded clothing. And I'm just a bit too anal to leave them on the floor, but not quite anal enough to put them back in the closet right away. Hence, the need for an ottoman. Conveniently located to catch suits, gym clothes, the wrong t-shirt for an outfit, little strappy dresses...whatever.
It also lets me put on my shoes without grunting about crappy knees. A problem that gets worse with every walk down a mountain.
The bed stays the same, but the shelf is gone. Now, however, I need to find a place to put my books. I'd use the nightstand, but those drawers are already in use. The same use reserved for almost every nightstand drawer.
A place to keep my beanies.
What? What were you thinking?

The room looks great. You could invest in a matching nightstand and a new lamp. You would then have room for - um - more beanies.
