News I can use.
My sinuses feel like they have been stuffed full of peanut butter.
My dog stinks but thankfully I can hardly smell him.
I'm finally home.
Did I mention I'm sick?
Oh, yeah. One more thing.
I got my first "real" commission check from this new gig as a corporate monkey.
As of tonight, I've paid off my truck. And I could have (almost) paid off a brand new one while I was at it. Although I didn't owe much and could have done this months ago, I am now, officially, debt free.
Not counting that little "mortgage" thing.
There are advantages to the life of a road warrior; frequent flier miles, decent health benefits (although that's debatable), and free geek gadgets, but those occasional, fleeting moments of financial security, those, THOSE are the best. And those are the moments that make all those other moments stuck in convention centers and on conference calls worthwhile.

If you're planning to stay in one place for more than 5 yrs, I'd say "mortgage". Tho, tax, fixing, $$ of making it yours, etc, does REALLY $UCK. You look at $300 toy and go "with $300, I can get a kick @ss faucet, too."

Debt free is the only way to be. I buy outright to avoid the debt. If I can't buy it, I save till I can.

todd: no. i like my dog too much.
akiyo: rent is rarely a sound choice unless you are like me and are willing to drop lots of cash to live somewhere outrageously expensive. to everyone else, buy. biggest financial mistakes i have ever made were NOT buying real estate.
anna: december. property in texas.
lindy: amen.
